Who we are

At Wright Film Studios, we tell stories that stay with you.

Bold and visually striking, our films and series by women of color celebrate culture, stir emotion, and spark conversations that linger long after the credits roll.

Culture-defining and globally inspired, our work draws from lived experiences across different worlds and perspectives. Every frame is intentional, every twist offers a surprise, and every voice is centered with care.

We’re here to change what stories look like, who gets to tell them, and how deeply they resonate.

Our approach

Behind the scenes, every project is built on:

  • Intention — every frame and line crafted to advance the story.

  • A global perspective — stories drawn from real experiences across different cultures.

  • Creative integrity — taking bold risks while maintaining authenticity and quality.

  • A playful edge — the spark, twist, or moment you didn't see coming.

What we make

  • We produce short films that are expressive, authentic, and purposeful — exploring tone, stirring emotion, and elevating bold new voices.

  • We produce feature films rooted in culture and crafted with care — bold, visually ambitious stories designed to resonate long after the credits roll.

  • We produce character-driven TV series that feel real, with immersive worlds and memorable moments. Our work emphasizes genre, emotions, and genuine perspectives.

“As a kid of immigrant parents, growing up across Africa, I searched for stories that reflected my world. Too often, they weren’t there. So I built a home for them.”

Meet the Founder

Anita Wright
CEO & Executive Producer

Anita Wright is the founder of Wright Film Studios, a home for bold, visually striking stories by women of color.

Raised across Africa by immigrant parents, Anita spent her childhood searching for films that reflected her world. Too often, she couldn’t find them. That absence fueled her passion: a belief that women of color deserve to take center stage with all the nuance, depth, and daring their voices hold.

For Anita, cinema has always been about more than just watching. It’s about the feeling of being seen — of recognizing yourself on screen and thinking, aha, I know that girl. Wright Film Studios was created to craft those moments: works that can be sharp or soft, strange or magical, but always unforgettable.

Before starting Wright Film Studios, Anita worked at YouTube, HBO Max, and National Geographic, where she learned how to connect creative visions with global audiences. Now, she brings that same passion to producing genre-bending, culture-defining projects while nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.

To Anita, storytelling is both personal and universal. With Wright Film Studios, she is creating the kinds of stories she once longed for — art that resonates deeply and endures.
